But imagine if you are challenged to play this train-based survival game without trains? Yes, it is possible and in today’s post, I am going to tell you how I tried to win Dead Rails without any trains and whether it is really possible or not.
Rules for playing without a train
To make this challenge more fun, some rules were set:
- No Trains: We will not be using trains under any circumstances. However, horses and speed boosts (such as snake oil bottles) can be used.
- Doctor Klaas: Right at the beginning, we will get some medicines which will be very helpful for us.
- Buying some things in advance: Since this is a difficult challenge, you will need to buy some weapons and essential items at the beginning of the game.
So now it’s time to see if we can actually complete this challenge!
Beginning – The first night of the journey without a train
The first task at the beginning of the game was to find a horse, as it would be very difficult to move around without any vehicle. But as I progressed in the game, I realized that there were no horses in the initial areas.
Before the first night I reached a Trading Post and bought a Molotov , as it can come in handy for defense at times. And then suddenly the first danger arrived – the darkness of the night .
As the night fell, the atmosphere became scary and I was looking for a safe place. Somehow I reached a small house and planned to save myself there. But the game surprised me on the very first day!
Gunmen and Bandits and a New Chance
In the morning I set out on my journey again and then I saw some bandits. Usually it is better to stay away from them, but this time it was necessary to defeat them because they had horses !
I picked up the gun and started firing. After some hard work I finally managed to get a horse. Now the journey was going to be easy because without a horse this challenge was impossible.
Now I could move faster, but the biggest question still remained – would I be able to reach the next safe zone?
Entering the city and making a dangerous decision
The journey became easier after getting the horse, but I decided to go to a nearby town to collect some essential supplies. This costed me a lot.
As soon as I reached there, it was night and scary noises started coming from all around. I quickly found an empty building and tried to save myself by parking my horse at the door. But in a short while, the blood-sucking vampires arrived!
These were so dangerous that I decided to run away immediately. Somehow I ran away and reached a safe place and started waiting for the morning.
First Safe Zone – A Ray of Hope
The night passed somehow and as soon as the day broke I started my journey again. After many hours of hard work I saw a safe zone in the distance. Yes! Finally I crossed the first safe zone.
As soon as I reached there, the first thing I did was to sell all the looted stuff from the bandits and this brought me $415 . With this I bought good quality armor and more bullets . Now I felt safer than ever.
Exploring the Castle and Lots of Loot
Moving ahead I saw a castle and thought I should explore it too. What I found after going there was unbelievable!
There were Molotovs, bullets, bandages and lots of bonds inside the castle . This was a big bonus for my journey. Now I felt that I could complete this challenge.
Towards the military base – the most dangerous place
So far my journey was going very well, but the biggest danger was yet to come – the military base .
I knew that going there was inviting death, but I still went ahead. As soon as I reached there, auto-turrets (guns that aim themselves) started attacking me.
I immediately left the horse and entered a building and tried to save myself. Enemies were coming from all sides, but somehow I kept myself safe.
The final step – is it possible?
Now only a little distance was left and if I had survived for one or two more days, I could have won this challenge.
After running around all night I got close to the last safe zone. When I got there, I couldn’t believe I had won Dead Rails without a train!
Can Dead Rails be won without trains?
If you ask me if it is possible, the answer would be – yes, but you will have to work very hard!
- You have to adopt the right strategy.
- Horse and speed boost have to be used properly.
- You have to rob at the right place at the right time.
But the most important thing is patience and perseverance!
